Community Involvement
You've Been Served!
The K1s and K2s were involved in a Service Learning project about appreciating service staff! The children enjoyed a short puppet show conducted by student volunteers, on choosing the right decisions when the characters interact with service staff. They were then provided with activity cards and some colouring materials for them to create their own appreciation card for service staff and they were tasked to give the cards to a service staff they see. Through these activities, the children were able to inculcate a sense of graciousness towards service staff as well as show their appreciation to service staff. The children had a fun time being involved in this project!
The objective of this project is to encourage children to take the initiative to return their trays in an engaging manner. We collaborated with the organization, Singapore Kindness Movement.
Our K1 - K2 children participated in this project.
During the activity, the children role-played about having a meal in the hawker centre as we educate them about the importance of tray return. After the role-play, we gave children markers and sticky notepads to write their appreciation towards cleaners. The children enjoyed this a lot and some even wanted to participate again!
Keep your trays
One of the community collaborations we embarked on was to give back to our neighbouring residence! Our aim was to increase the bond and tighten the relationships with one another through acts of kindness. Thus, strengthening the kampong spirit! We prepared a fun activity of making a mini flower pop up with clay, cupcake cups and ice cream sticks. Children get to write kind and lovely notes and give the flower to their neighbours. This encourage children to always treat everyone with kindness and that small or big efforts contribute to a more vibrant and positive community!
